1963 Body numbers vs VIN

If two 1963 cars have VIN numbers that are, say, 37 digits apart, should their bodies normally also be 37 apart, or is it body-style related? So, for instance, two coupe cars built 37 digits apart could be expected to have body numbers less than 37 apart, (less by the number of convertibles built in between, say 18)?

I located the body number on my 63 but was uncertain if I was reading the number correctly due to the persons handwriting. Was I looking at a 7 or a 1. I went to the C 2 registry and found a car close to mine in serial number looked at their body number and did the math and the number is exactly what I thought I read on my car. Does this always line up I don't know.

I'm asking about body numbers on the trim tag...

I guess another way to ask this is: do coupe and convertible bodies have separate body number sequences, i.e. coupes numbered 1- 10,594 and convertibles 1- 10,919?

Thanks Tracy, I was trying to figure out why two coupes with VINS 37 numbers apart, had body numbers only 21 digits apart. That could be real, I guess, but now it doesn't matter anyway, 'cause, upon closer inspection, the trim tag on the one I was interested in is clearly bogus....
