Butch is in our prayers. My wife and I were victims of an armed robbery at one of our rental properties a few years ago. Fortunately in our case only one shot was fired just to demonstrate that the gun was real. There were no injuries, but it was still a scary situation.

            Dom,

Of course, prayers are constant for your son, Butch and your family. May God give you a peace that he is in control of the situation.

Re: Guys need your prayers. Dom

Things are happening leading to the road to recovery. A ways to go but thank God he is giving us the chance to take it. A real good day again.
starting to work below the neck and other than having to remove lead slugs from the face and body things are healing faster than expected.
First thing told to me before the ambulance arrived was that the kid was hit 5 times and there were 2 guns involved, one was a 45. There would not of been a chance if it was 5 from a 45.
I think my kid (41 years old) hesitated to kill someone for the first time in his life and the 45 was in his hand. The thug had shot people before and no regard for life and emptied out his gun (22 thank God) on my son. Experienced people said that if you have to think about pulling the trigger It's to late. Still working on controlling my anger and hatred and trying to understand how a person gets like that.

Dom, you will learn to deal, process, cope with, vent etc about your anger - BUT the important thing is that you can do all that down the road once your son gets better. His recovery is all that matters. My anger and rage would be off the radar, trust me...I understand your rage, as it's natural. Good therapy for you would be to focus on your son (which we know you are) and let your rage cool some. It will always be there, but time will heal not only your son, but also your emotions. So happy to hear your son is making big strides in his recovery, and thanks for keeping us all posted. Those of us with kids shudder when we hear stories like this. I have a concealed carry permit and carry everywhere i go. You are right, if you hesitate - bad things happen. Thank God one of the guns was a .22. Prayers and thoughts for your son's speedy and full recovery from this tragedy. The Gechijian family....

Some good advice and words of wisdom from Ara here. I find myself more and more frustrated and upset by what seems like the continual degradation of respect for human life in today's society. As I said earlier, I can't imagine being in this situation, and concentrating on Butch's recovery seems like just the ticket.

Dom, thanks for continued updates on Butch's condition. So very happy to hear about your son's positive progress and the apprehension of shooter. We are all following this thread with concerned interest as well as hopes/prayers for full and speedy recovery.

                                Dom,

I was shocked to here this. Butch, you, and your family are in our prayers.

About 11 years ago my oldest son was thrown from a K-5 that rolled 8 times. The driver had been drinking. He had a head injury and was in a coma for ten days, and actually died twice in the hospital. This was the time that I needed the most strength and reason to help my family.

Also during this time several small miracles occurred. It took a long time in therapy and a few years to get over the headaches, but today he is a diesel mechanic. He stopped by and had a couple of beers with me yesterday. He has a wife and a nice house, and he has a son (my grandson) that will be three next Saturday.

There is always hope, and things can still work out well. There is no reason for what happened. Don't drive yourself crazy with it.

God Bless you and your family, Dom.
