69 Rear deck vents-is it possible/worth removing from the car to clean/restore them?

    Guys,

The title says it all. My 69 coupe rear deck vents-is it possible/worth removing from the car to clean/restore them? I'm getting the body ready for its re-install on the chassis and there is a fair amount of crud on the flapper doors that help control the passenger compartment ventilation. I can feel it with my hand. It feels like there may be some insulation of something on the doors that has significant dry-rot. I'm wondering what to do about it. Thanks

    Mike

There is a foam rubber seal on the vent doors. By now, yours will be TOTALLY deteriorated. Dr. Rebuild sells kits to rebuild the complete vent door assembly.
