I have been experiencing a common vacuum problem with my windshield wiper door opening when the car is shut off. Upon starting it, the door comes right down. I decided to address this problem and removed the original Trico check valve (above manifold) and vacuum tested it with a pressure pump. The valve appears to be working fine. When I reconnected the vacuum lines, another problem developed. The headlight doors opened and will now will not shut and the car is now running rough. The lines are properly connected and do not appear damaged. Can anyone shed any light on what may have happened and what do do next? Apparently, there is a vacuum leak somewhere which got worse following this testing procedure. Thank you!

Re: 71 Corvette Vacuum Problems
I had a similar problem with the wiper door on my 72. It's a long shot, but check the seal on the back of the wiper door canister ( the linkage going in and out can dislodge it ). It just takes a few seconds to check, and may fix the door problem, but it (probably) wouldn't help the rough running.- Top
