69 carpet grommets for the lap belts

I was wondering if someone could confirm if the carpet grommets for the lap belts are vinyl or rubber and if there are any good repops available? I seem to think they were vinyl and all the repops I've seen are rubber...

They are made of some sort of plastic. I don't know of any reproductions but they may exist.

Do an eBay search with the part number. I've seen repo's there and they look pretty good.

I've checked these out now and they are made of rubber. The originals were definitely not made of rubber. They were some sort of rather flexible plastic. However, the reproductions otherwise appear like the originals and are probably the only thing out there. I expect that a fastidious judge could discern them from originals.

Thanks guys. I was pretty sure that they weren't rubber but now I know for sure. I wonder what kind of a point hit the rubber repops get?

Rich, would you happen to know the P/N? All the assembly manual has is the drawing with a note saying that it's part of the carpet assembly.

The reproductions are made of rubber and the originals were made from a harder ABS plastic. While you can install the reproductions they are not easy to install at all. I just installed a set in a 69 and the only way I could get them to look good was to place a piece of wood under the back side, then shoot staples with a pneumatic stapler though the rubber, the carpet and into the wood. Once I did this I pulled the wood off and then folded the staples over. They don't look bad, they don't look great and they will by no means pass any judging.

Thanks Ernie. It sounds like the repops are better than nothing unless they are being judged and then they might as well be nothing. I think I'll leave mine out until I find some originals. Even if I get just one original I'll look at making a mould and see if I can't repop a couple.
