    Bob,
Please call me at (661) 313-7901. I need to talk to one who has been there, done that. The big mystery in this adventure is locating the 56 that Ruben Batista drove around Havana, and the other is the 53 you mentioned in your reply to my thread.

If you think what you say above is what NCRS is all about, you need to get many years of membership and participation under your belt. You've only been a member for 6 months, so I don't think your really know what NCRS and the membership is all about. Just look at the new concourse judging program...we now have a program for modified bodies, motors, blowers etc. so it's not all about being purists and original/restored cars.
Ha Ha! I don't know but I may have been a member before you. I joined NCRS the FIRST time back in about 1976/77. I have a pretty good idea of what it is all about. I met and communicated back in the day regularly with Mike Hunt and also with Noland Adams. In fact there is a picture of the engine compartment of my 1957 Airbox car in Noland's 1st book. The caption under the picture is "Would you buy this mess?"

Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to pee on any ones parade here. I hope everyone that goes has a great time and you like the cars you find. I have no interest in going to Cuba for any reason.

Not meaning to hijack the thread, but Darryl, if you're curious about that sort of thing, I think they can give you your original NCRS Membership number back. That's why my profile shows a join date of 2013 but a membership number of 4474. I first joined NCRS circa Feb/Mar 1981 then left around 1986. When Pete Brock came out with his book about his working on designing the Stingray, I went to a book signing, there were several Stingrays (when I say "Stingray" I mean '63-'67) there which kind of rekindled the fires. When I re-joined I asked Eric Mortimer if they still had my old membership number and to my surprise they did. Like I said, just an FYI if you're interested in it.

Thanks for the suggestion. I contacted the help area and they responded that they have missing info for the mid/late70s and could not help me at all.

No chance you have one of the old Restorers or Driveline stashed away? They might have a mailing label with your old membership number on it. Just a thought.

                Terry,

Remember, the current membership numbers didn't come into being until 1990. Prior to that it was the year and the number of members the year you joined. Then there was no number on the mailing labels for a couple of years.

Yes, they said even with the mail label they could not help. I joined in either 76 or 77.

I had a four digit membership number when I joined in 1980 (That was my year according to the Membership Office. I have my doubts about that date, but that is a whole other can of worms I chose to leave alone.). I don't remember exactly, but some time later, and it could have been 1990 or there abouts many/all of us were "re-numbered." I believe that re-numbering had to do with the introduction of a computer system of sorts. At least that was the explanation, and we were told we were all ranked in order of our joining.

When we started the Museum, in the early 1990s, I was the membership person, and I had extensive conversations with the Mortimers about setting up the Museum system. I didn't want to re-invent the wheel. In the course of that I learned a lot about the workings of NCRS's membership. More than I really wanted to know, as it turned out. It started on a Rolodex and at one point they had an Addressograph Machine. They could have made PoPs for the late C2 & early C3 people. . Anyway, I digress, if Darryl joined far enough ago, the only record of his original membership number may be in any mailings or publications he received, and that was my sole point in my message to him. Whether having that information would help him today is a subject about which I know nothing, and you know a lot more. I was just trying to be helpful. I'll leave it alone now.
