    71 LT-1 valve covers

I have a set of valve covers that look like the ones in the picture in the TI&JG with a rubber push in oil plug for my 71. They have black paint between the fins. Do I need to remove the paint to make them correct? Was the painted ones ever used from the factory?

    Re: 71 LT-1 valve covers

Painted ones were used in mid/late 70s cars.
However, those were painted entirely black EXCEPT for the top edges of the fins. You've probably seen them on Pace Cars.
A 71 should have zero paint on it.
