"53's - all the valve covers are blue - also they are different
54's - the car can have a blue valve cover or a chrome one - no rhyme or reason - the cover is a passenger car cover with tabs welded on for the ign shielding.
The ign shielding can be blue or chrome - again no rhyme or reason. Typically the inside of the shielding is black."
Embarrassing to say mine is black. Hasn't been touched since 1962 and i think maybe the valve cover is just oiled stained. ..but the shield is definitely black never been chromed or no trace of blue paint. Other than the shock replace and tires from Montgomery Ward. EVERYTHING is org.
Could it be possible for black shields?
