If its an original setup the oil filter is inside a canister. It is that cylindrical black canister hanging off the motor with the big bolt in the bottom..
NAPA will have the filter cartridge and gasket.

Well Frank.... that's what I would have thought. All my other cars have /had that crazy messy setup. But i can't find the canister on this one. Its must be behind the transmission? Or inside the tail light. . Seriously its got me stuff. I have looked on the right ..starter, battery, glass washer, fuel pump, ...driver's side. .generator, 3 very powerful hi output carbs ..exhaust and master cylinder. I'm sure I've looked 3 times. Can it be possible for it to not have a filter? ???

My eyes must be playing tricks

Can someone please snap a photo of this and the location

Early 265 c.i. engine? Stop looking, they didn't have oil filters.

What! ?!?... 😱😲😲😨 well I'm speechless. I wonder why not . Good thing I asked. Sad thing is that O'Reilly's sold me an oil filter.

Early Chev V8s had an external cannister-type filter mounted on a bracket atop the engine with an oil line running from engine to the filter and returning. This setup could have easily been left off and the engine oil line simply plugged. There are many old photos of this setup.

I was working on a 1958 Impala (283) that did not have a filter, just a plate bolted where the canister would be. I was told that it was a option. The plate was not a home made plate but a stamped out one.

Are you working on your '67 Pace Car? Some featured the rare mystery mid-block with the oil filter under the intake manifold. Check there, take photos, and report your findings.
