NO, only that the numbers are correct. Many engine get restamped with correct numbers.

Big blocks were stamped with the head off. According to John H. the gang holder had a locating tang that rested on the front of the block to prevent the stamp from being too far rearward and not readable after the head was installed. If you compare this pad to known originals, the stamp is too far forward. My vote is it's clearly a re-stamp.

You can't determine an original engine and stamp pad vs. good fake from a photograph anymore accurately then differentiating an original oil painting vs. a good counterfeit.

Well i like to see a real 427 BB stamp pad then to compare if that the case, so how do we know it a fake or real then, if the number are so perfect what is the real DEAL then, so how do we determine an original engine and stamp pad then ?

VIN 3640 left the factory in Nov 1966. The engine is stamped T0316, which would be March 16, 1967. Am I missing something here? How could it possibly be correct?

This pad is nothing like an original stamping. The other one was closer to original appearance, but the "J" looks too small, and the build date would be good for car 13640 not 3640.

Yes i notice that too that a 5 months spread from birthday to stamp code, so what is the rule of thumb from birthday date to stamp pad code is up to 2 months is fair to say to be good.

Up-close in-person inspection (not pictures) and years/decades of experience. The obvious fakes are easy to spot, it's the top quality restamps that are hard.

67 427bb birthday 103640 is on Nov.66, and engine date stamp pad show March 16 could this happan

If it's March 1967, then no. March 1966 is very suspect but not impossible. Get the casting date.

If it is a 435hp JE coded 427, it would not have been manufactured in the 66 model year regardless of the block casting date.

Patrick, cast block is 3904351 , 427bb 435 i don,t have Cast block date, birthday is 103640 Nov.12/ 66 pad stamps is T0316JE which is Mar.16/ 66 or 67 that what where i,am stuck at is it 66 or 67 on the pad so what happan if the block cast date is in 66, appreciate any feed back
