    1962 Door re-assembly sequence

It has been three years since I disassembled the doors on my 1962 and I am at the point in the restoration to put them together. So many of you have gone through this and I am hoping to get your input on the proper re-assembly sequence. I have studied the photos I took, the AIM, the you tube video on installing a regulator, the Service manual, and the papers many have posted on the topic and have concluded this is the proper sequence from bare door to achieve a door that open locks and closes and a window that properly rolls up. All parts prior to assembly are restored, polished, chromed refurbished and in working order less final adjustment. Starting with a bare finish painted door
    1. Rivet lower window channel stop in place at bottom of door (old were rusted) rivets should be painted
    2. Install the two upper window stops
    3. Install the door rubber seal
    4. mount exterior door handle and key cylinder lock mechanism with gaskets
    5. Mount trapeze and lock mechanism all screws are painted exterior color, with some overspray on protruding star wheel cover
    6. Mount door interior opening pull and attach three control rods to tie lock cylinder, interior door open handle and opening mechanism to the lock assembly/trapeze mechanism
    7. Adjust the rods so the door opens and locks properly
    8. insert and install the manual window regulator, putting the foam donut between the regulator and inside fiberglass
    9. Assemble the forward upper window channel fuzzy with two white threads to chrome post
    10. Make sure reveal and garnish and the window wipe fuzzies beads all assemble with good gaps
    11. mount chrome post assembly and upper window channel in door as an assembly
    12. Install the lower forward window channel (inside door beneath chrome post) to chrome post inside door
    13. mount exterior reveal molding with fuzzy
    14. mount the center window curve track
    15. install the rear window channel
    16. insert the window run channel (removed from window assy) into the rollers on the regulator inside the door
    17. insert the window in the door
    18. fasten the window channel run now on regulator to the lower glass track bottom of window 4 screws
    19. Install the top of door interior garnish/fuzzy wipe molding
    20. Install the stainless end cap
    21. Fill the access hole for the chrome post
    22. install chrome post rubber weather strip/drip rail in order to get glass top stop in place (is this part of weatherstrip correct)
    23. Adjust window travel up and down and tilt (will need to mount soft top and hardtop for final adjustment)
    24. Install two access panels and felt discs
    25. Now ready for door panel and handles, armrest

Can you see a step or part that was left out? Is the sequence proper...when do you install regulator step 8, when do you install forward window channel step 12? The part I can't remember is the sequence of the chrome post, the upper channel and the lower channel run?

Your review and advice is much appreciated.

    Re: 1962 Door re-assembly sequence

Somewhere after step 20 you'd better adjust the window stops now that the glass is in...they can be the devil to get just right...once the door panels are on, etc.. its too late..
