    Correct Emblem Placement

My 65' Roadster (June 65) is being restored and I want to have the guy place the emblems on correctly. I am getting conflicting reports from web searches, Wilcox diagrams, and in the AIM.

Can someone please post the actual dimensions or measurements needed of the side, front and rear emblems please?

      Re: Correct Emblem Placement

When I have time later today, I'll measure my 66 coupe. The emblems should be the same, the AIM pages are the same for both 65 and 66.

One question, What happened to the existing holes for them emblems on your car?

See if what you learn lines up with this '65 - The holes were made in 1965.

Here are some pictures from my 66 coupe. I'm making multiple post to keep it as clear as possible.

This post is pictures is of the nose emblem. The AIM has most of the measurements, but not where the top of the emblem starts. As you can see, it is about 1 7/16" from the edge of the hood surround.

            Here's the rear emblem.

The left edge of this emblem is about 1 7/8" from the top centerline (pictures 4 and 5).

The right edge is about 6 3/8" from the fender top edge (picture 1)

The bottom edge of the emblem (left side) is about 5 9/16" from the back edge of the body the right side is 5 7/16" from the back edge (pictures 2 and 3)

              Thanks guys.

Does anyone have the correct measurements for the side emblems?

Also, to answer your question, we ordered new Bloomington gold and NCRS approved side panels so there are no holes.

                Here's the side emblems.

Pictures 1 and 2 are of the driver side. The tip of the V on the emblem is about 11 3/16" from the edge of the fender.

Pictures 3 and 4 are of the passenger side. The tip of the V on that emblem is about 11 7/16" from the edge of the fender.

So side to side was not perfectly matched.

The bottom of the V is 1 1/2" to 1 9/16" from the body trim line.

As far as I know there are no approved panels by NCRS. If at judging the judges can tell that a panel is a replacement they will take the appropriate deduct.

Don and Michael --- The 65 rear emblems are way different from the 66 rear emblems, so do not use a 66 as a guide. I hope someone can post similar measurements from a 65. I am helping a friend replace the rear deck panel on a 65 with one taken from a 66, and the 66 holes are way off for a 65 emblem.

These are the measurements for the holes for the rear emblem on my 65. The 11 1/2" measurement is from the center of the rib to the first lower hole.
Unless you have an early A.O.Smith car, the side emblems should be centered above the middle side vent.
