72 coupe interior rear quarter panel repair

Well after 45 years the rear seat belt quarter panel cracked while accidently leaning on it removing the rear window. I would like to keep it since I don't know how well the new ones match and fit. Any recommendation for a glue or epoxy to repair the crack?

This is a driver, not a judged car so this can be repaired vs replaced.

    Thanks

    Hi Gary,

Loctite makes a 2 part plastic epoxy in a syringe tube that I have had excellent results with. If you can get to the repair from the back side, I would use that with a piece of fiberglass mesh repair tape over the crack and it should be good and strong. I used this stuff to repair the screw tabs on a console from a car ( which was under tension) I had years ago and it was still holding strong when I sold it years later. It dries a kind of yellow-ish shade, not exactly clear, so go easy on the part you can see. Good luck, Dan

      Hi Dan
Good to hear from you again. Thank you for the advice, I'll look into the Loctite product. Also looking at the Plastic repair by JB Weld.

      How's that diff working out?

I have not used the JB weld plastic product, so I can't say if it works the same way.

The diff is still perfect (like you had to ask) I'll look for you at Carlisle. Cheers!

For what it's worth...I purchased interior trim and door panels from Eckler's in '09 and the color match for Dark Saddle, vinyl, was exact. The seat covers were "pressed" rather than actual "woven vinyl"...But, since my car's a driver..no matter

Nobody makes the correct insert for the seats; they're all the same pressed vinyl.
I wish one of the companies would come out with the correct material!
