    Fuel line Question

Hi, I purchased a SS fuel line, from a reputable source that will remain nameless, to connect fuel pump to both float bowls. Couldn't get the connections to seal. I'm told that this is a typical issue with stainless lines. I'm curious to learn of other's experiences.

    Thank you!

It is difficult to get the SS lines to seal try tightening the line then release and tighten again. The first time you tighten you will form the end of the tube to the the required shape and the second time it should seal. I don't really understand why people use the SS lines. The original steel lines lasted for many years and were exposed to severe conditions that these cars don't see now. Steel lines should last for many years on a classic car and obviously SS lines will receive a deduct if the car is judged.

Thank you, and the updated plan is to use steel as original. I used SS tubing in industry for all sorts of gas and fluid plumbing with never an issue, so I didn't expect any in this case.

But in industry you also probably used Parker or Swagelok end connections. Your SS line will be fine if you use the fittings, but originality will suffer.

I had found that taking great care to have the tubing make a perfect alignment to the seating surface helps. The slightest misalignment from a direct and straight approach became impossible to seat.

You, Sir, are quite correct. I have seen the error of my ways and will not make such a blunder again, at least not this week!
