Sorry if this has been asked before, I couldn't find anything on a search. Can anyone tell me if a 1965 driver side fresh air vent cable bracket is supposed to be parallel to the passenger side or bent at about 30 degrees away from the left vent? All drawing show it straight and parallel to its partner but I've seen them bent on cars. Thanks Tim

Re: Drivers side bent fresh air cable bracket
On both my 65's, coupe and convertible, they are installed at an angle. Installing them parallel to the other cable would put more of a bend in the cable putting undo stress on it and increasing the amount of force needed to open the vent. That may be why many of the drivers side vents I've seen are broken at the cable attachment point.- Top

Re: Drivers side bent fresh air cable bracket
I have a '64. It was also bent. But.... 64s have a clip that connects to the hood release cable and also connect to the vent cable at the intersect point of the two cables. I don't have a 65 AIM so I don't know for sure if 65s should have that clip. I do not see the clip in the picture you posted. When connected to both cables at the intersection point it prevents unwanted movement of either cable when their respective handles are pulled (or pushed). The clip is not expensive - Paragon, LIC, others stock it.Ed- Top

Re: Drivers side bent fresh air cable bracket
Thanks Ed. The picture with the blue carpet is a google image. The other is mine. I do have the clip and made it pass by the hood release like it shows in the AIM. The picture of my dash is as I was taking it apart. Now that I'm putting it together , the questions are popping up. Thanks , I'm convinced bent is good. I can't but wonder if the assembly line made that adjustment by hand. Thanks again Tim- Top
