Engine Analyzer Computer Programs Suggestions / Reviews

In the past I believe I've seen the Engine Analyzer v 3.0 recommended as a reasonable computer engine simulation program. Does anyone have experience with this version of the program? Is the current 3.4 version still a recommended program that produces reasonably accurate results? Thanks.

I've used EA 3.0 for numerous engine system engineering projects going back over ten years including the "327 LT-1" and "Special 300 HP" configurations, some vintage racing small blocks and a couple of Bonneville engines, all of which were dyno tested, plus I have files for just about every OE engine configuration from the fifties to the early eighties.

In most cases I found it to be fairly accurate, within a few percent, of actual tested peak power, somewhat high, 5-10 percent, on predicted peak torque, and 10-20 percent low on low end torque. In general the tested torque curves were flatter than predicted, which is a good thing. Of course you have to have good input data like head and exhaust system flow. As has been said for decades about computers: garbage in garbage out.

Later versions have better algorithms and more features, but since I'm not using it much anymore, I have no real need to upgrade.
