How to tell an original spinner

I've got three different spinners and believe that two of the three are reproductions but I'm not sure about the third. The first was on the car and I had them re-plated. The face is wavy and has no machine marks; two casting lugs;the sides have no ridge and the inside says:
The second is an older Corvette Central reproduction that has the flat machined face and a pretty good ridge on the ends of the "wings" but the side of the wings has no ridge and is somewhat wavy.
The third looks about the same as the Corvette Central repro on the face but there are no manufacturer markings inside. There is a distinct ridge on the edges and end of the "wings" and the sides are flat. There are fine machine marks throughout the reverse side and if you look closely, there are fine lines that run across the diameter at each of the 45 degree points.

Does anyone know how to tell an original from a reproduction?

Re: How to tell an original spinner

Keith - I had a c1 for over 22 years - took what I believe was the org hubcaps and spinners off and put the made in Taiwan ones on to drive and local shows - when I sold the car about 8 years ago the guy who brought the 59 just liked a shiny car didn't care about the org hubcaps so I kept them - just took one off the wall and took the following pictures - I am sure there are more knowledgeable C1 guys out there who will jump in and confirm / help out - Keith

Thanks Keith. That's helpful. Interesting to see that they are BLCs (whomever that is) as are the old ones I had on my car however they have the wavy face around the flags and lettering unlike yours.

Keith, the BLC is correct for original spinners. There is a chance that the ones you have with BLC, but don't look quite right were stripped and re-chromed. Depending on who is doing the work, you can lose a lot of the detail, original shape and surface finish, hence the waviness of the chrome. They just never look right after being re-chromed.

Do any of the 57-62 Judging Guides spell out what to look for while "on the car"?
