Re: c2 air conditioner vacuum switch
Yes, it can (and has) been successfully repaired/rebuilt. We developed the thread over at the Corvette Forum about 5-6 years ago. I will find it and post it up for you. DR REBUILD also has a very short write-up on how to do this rebuild as well. It is/was on his website.
LICS used to sell a brass reproduction, but they stopped selling it about 4-5 years ago.
Your best best is to rebuild.......or have it rebuilt by someone who is handy with shop tools.
For this coming summer, don't worry about it and just keep the heater coolant valve closed all time. Get it rebuilt before fall.

Re: c2 air conditioner vacuum switch
I would very much like to purchase your li valve in the plastic or one of the used originals if they work.
my name and address is joseph m romano

I can call you with a credit card or mail you a check or if u trust me we can meet at carslile for cash. I would like however to continue interior build rebuild on my 66 427 air conditioned coupe
I don't think I have the expertise to rebuild mine I did try to test it. it was sticking so I used a blaster spray and did get it unstuck and then I shot compressed air through the larger opening and I could see a buble on the smaller opening when I covered the smaller opening w stick adhesive. I don't really know if that is good enough to test.- Top

Re: c2 air conditioner vacuum switch
Joe:
Folks reported some issues with the LICS brass reproduction as well, so it is not 100 fool-proof and may have some problems even out of the bag. But it is the best that was available except NOS.
The issue with the switch not working is the age and condition of the rubber o-ring inside. Some used units may still work okay, but you are rolling the dice after 50 years in service or on the shelf in someone's garage. If Page can rebuild then using the info I presented or his own techniques, then that is probably the best of all.
Good luck in your search.

Re: c2 air conditioner vacuum switch
Somebody refresh my memory. Do you absolutely have to uncramp the crimps on side of valve opposite the button end to get the valve apart?- Top
