1966 convertible Factory A/C question

Hi All,
Does anybody know or know where to find out how many 1966 convertibles had factory A/C. I have the Corvette Black Book and see that there were 3520 cars sold new with A/C but it does not separate out the convertibles from coups. Also specifically I'm looking at how many big block convertibles had factory A/C. I occasionally see numbers thrown around by dealers but have no idea if they are accurate.

Noland Adam's Book on C2 Corvette Restoration has this breakdown. Page 336.

Thanks for getting back and for the book info. I just found in the Corvette Black Book that there were 1382 convertibles with factory air. The number I am looking for is how many of the L36 390 hp 427 convertibles had C60 factory AC. If you could find that number for me I would appreciate it.

There were, according to Noland's book, 342 L36 convertibles with C60 produced in 1966. It does not breakdown how many were 4-speed manuals and how many were automatics.

Another page in Noland's book states that only 20 L36 engine Corvettes came with the auto transmission. There were a total of 5116 L36 engine Corvettes produced . So having a convertible with L36 engine and with auto trans and factory air-conditioning is very rare indeed.

Thanks for your input on my questions....finally purchased my car and would like more info on it. I would like to get Nolan's book which I assume is only available on CD these days. Which CD would I need to purchase to get the page you made reference to in your post.

Hi Rick,

Congrats on your L36 w/AC purchase. All posts are correct. 342 L36 AC convertibles and around 530(ish) L36 AC coupes. Don't know of any stats of how many of the 20 automatic transmission L36 cars were AC coupes or convertibles.

I've owned my '66 L36 w/AC convertible for 30 years now. If you ever want to compare notes, give me a shout. I've been compiling data on the air conditioned Midyears for quite some time now. Especially the '66 and '67 427 AC cars. Not an expert by any means, but I really enjoy the AC side of it all.

The Adams book is long out of print and most likely never to be printed again. I know of no CD that has it. You will have to find it used. I see them on EBay, other Corvette forums, the Driveline and at swap meets

Your car isn't a yellow convertible with side exhaust is it?

By the way, my L36 w/AC convertible is VIN#72XX. Nassau Blue.
