Re: 1955 fan shroud
John,
From this angle it looks as if it had the cutout! As deep as the hose goes into the shroud it seems as if all had to be cut out or depressed for the hose to fit at all.

Re: 1955 fan shroud
joe. thanks for the picture. it is still too hard to tell if this car has a cutout. the judging guide states that there was no cutout in 55, but that is incorrect. later cars have the cutout and this car could help in determining when the cutout started.- Top

John,
Here's better pics on this 1955 barn find. I love this pic of the tail lens. Both are originals.

Re: 1955 fan shroud
Joe, thanks for the pictures. even the 53-55 Bloomington judge I talked with yesterday did not think that 55s had that cutout. as for the tail lens, the only way I could tell an original from some of the repops is originals have a rubber washer or ring at the base of the lens.- Top

Re: 1955 fan shroud
had #342 been restored and been judged by the NCRS a few months ago it would have taken a hit on the engine pad being " irregular". after the owner of a judged car posted the deduction of his pad a search was done to find similar "irregular" pads on 55s. I am pretty sure the Bloomington judge would have given it full credit since the bloomington judge owns a 55 that is an example of a irregular pad.- Top

Re: 1955 fan shroud
John,
Bottom line is! No car is perfect and no judge is perfect either. Cars like this old clunker that has never been restored tell the story better than anyone walking, talking and judging!
And yes, I have been on both sides judging and getting judged. Both at Bloomington and the NCRS. And loved every minute of it!
