    '57 FI Base plate

I'm getting ready to paint my '57 engine with FI and would like some opinions on overspray patterns on the ends of the intake manifold. I know by the JM that the valley area between the heads was not painted. Is the GM tag on the intake manifold gasket engine color or left unpainted?

    Thanks,

    Wayne

I guess I should have used the correct terminology and called the "FI base plate" the adapter plate so you all would know what I was referring to. Basically what I would like to know is there engine paint overspray on the ends of the adaptor plate?

    Thank you.

      Wayne,

Suggest searching the Technical Discussion Board and the Archives folder for discussions about the Flint engine painting procedures.

Including such things as the techniques and the time allowed to paint an engine. IIRC it was either 12 or 20 seconds per engine.

Here is the Flint-applied orange paint on the front of my '59 7017300 unit.

          Bill,

Your picture answers my question exactly. I knew the Flint paint process was fast and the coverage varied, but this picture shows me just what I need to paint my engine to look like it came from Flint.
Thank you for your time and trouble to post this picture for me.
