My sweet baby hasn't started in years.. 52 years. I have replaced the started solenoid and took it to get tested it kicks over on the bench and is fine. When I put it back on it just clicks.. and clicks and maybe she turns over.. maybe not... it takes about 7 tries to get it spinning. But I have cleaned the batter cables so these are in great condition free of dirt and oil. The battery is new and is fine, she is not locked, when she turns she is free and clear.Any ideas..

Re: 54 slow turn or no turn
Al,
Have someone check the CCA of your battery. Voltage may be correct but the (cold cranking amps) CCA is what gets the engine to turn over. Had a 700 CCA on my 96 that only had under 300 CCA when checked. Occasionally it would just click and then turn over after trying it again. And yes, I did check and change the starter before I bought a new battery to solve my problem.

Re: 54 slow turn or no turn
Maybe, but not the battery cables. I took them off and cleaned them got grease off, no breaks no splits.. Just not sure what to do. Ill try to bolt the ground cable to the frame and see what happens. This car has a starter relay... could this be an issue? can these be bought or bypassed?- Top

Check your grounds - The neg is bolted to the transmission bolt where the dipstick attaches.
They dont spin quickly - more like a tractor....
