Question: How critical is it that the differential side yokes are perpendicular to each other as shown in the service manual illustrations? ('66 3.36 gear) I did not find any discussion that emphasized the yoke orientation to each other. I recently had new bearings and seals installed, but when the differential came back from the shop the side yokes were close to being on the same plane instead of perpendicular. Now would be a good time to make the adjustment if this is important.

Re: Differential Stub Axle / Side Yoke Orientation
Regardless of their positions, it will change the first time you go around a corner, unless you had them install a spool differential. This reminds me of a story my tire dealer told me. He had a customer that insisted that the valve stems all be at the exact position when the car was lowered to the ground. Of course they were all astray before he even left the parking lot.- Top
