Do the new 63/64 reproduction steel wheels that are from exact tooling, and all that, pass judging with no deducts? If not, how many points do they lose?

Re: 64 steel wheels for judging
John, these wheels are only different in respects to weld on the back side of the wheels, and cannot tell when on the car, The weld cannot be seen. Myself and a few 63 friends went through the nationals last year without a hitch. These wheels are nicely done and at a fraction of the cost of buying the real deals.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: 64 steel wheels for judging
While they may pass as the road wheels on the show field, I am pretty certain, they would lose some deduction for configuration, when judged as a spare, where the entire rim is in full view to the judge.
(If I understand correctly, current DOT regulations force the manufacturer to use modern welding techniques, which appear different than the originals. As mentioned before, not visible when installed on the car).- Top
