63 battery ground (negative) cable connection

I am installing my rebuild 327/300 engine, with manual 4-speed, no ac, in my (early/oct 62) 63 convertible. While taking the engine out I photographed eveything, except for the battery cables. Now I do not know where to connect the negative ground cable coming from the battery. I have seen that it might be connected to one of the two bolts holding the starter. Or is it to the chassis?

Rudd,

The negative battery cable attaches to the outboard starter mounting bolt, there is also a black wire that attaches with it that grounds the wiper motor and heater blower.

This is how my 250hp late-May '63 cable is attached...
You do know how the spark plug cables route vis a vis the motor mounts...right ?
A bit of a PITA...

Not to steal this thread but I can't help to notice that the starter bracket appears not to be painted in Frank's photo. Or is just that the paint (I thought gloss black) has worn off over the years? Hugh

That was corrected prior to 2016 regional judging... I can't remember if I did it or Rich Mozzetta when he worked on the car....
He straightened out so many things I honestly don't remember!
