    70 Exhaust Manifolds

How do you tell the difference in an original exhaust manifold and a Paragon reproduction with the proper date code?

How much of the 22 originality points do you lose for using the reproduction?

I am having trouble finding original exhaust manifolds with a correct date. I realize the date is not judged, but I know if the date is correct or not.

    Thanks,
    Allen

But you'd be OK with repro manifolds?

        It is a 454.

If you can't find decent originals, you sometimes have to go with repos until you can find originals.

It will be a bit tough to find correct dates for this car. Big block Corvette manifolds were only used on Corvettes and there were not that many 454's made in 1970. The only source of correctly dated originals would be from a car built during a certain 6 months of the 1970 model year or SERVICE manifolds made during that time.

Plus, you're going to find that a lot of original manifolds from this period are going to be somehow "compromised" (e.g. broken, broken studs, or corrosion pitting).

Thanks Joe, you are always very helpful.

Can someone please tell me how to tell the difference in an original 3939838 exhaust manifold and a Paragon reproduction with an appropriate date code?
