1966 (C2) backup light switch wires

Does anyone know of a source for the backup light switch with correct wires?

Or every a source for the correct wires, and I could rewire the switch.

These are the two co-joined black wires, one with a pink and the other with a green tracer. The tracers should be on the flat sides of the wires.

    Thanks,

    Don Harris

I don't recollect the wire configuration you describe. My recollection is that one wire was completely red and the other completely green. In any event, the original switch was GM #1993666. It's discontinued but you might be able to find an NOS example.

original c-2 back up lite switch harness wires were black, one having a thin pink stripe and the other a thin green stripe. the wires are molded together . the all pink and all green wires were chevy over the counter pieces from the 80's and on. mike

My original 1969 switch, which is admittedly a different part number than the C2 switch, has wires that are all red and green. I pictured it in a recent post. So, as early as 1969 Delco was using all red and all green wires for some back-up lamp switches.

Mike has described the switch wires correctly. The question was for a mid year '66. Solid wire colors without tracer stripe colors are wrong for '65-67.

68-78 used switches with the solid color wires.

Here's a picture of the wires from an original off a friends 66. Pretty sure it's an original. The wires had broken off the switch and the insulation is very brittle. The pink and green stripes are on opposites sides of the wiring.

Re: 1966 (C2) backup light switch wires

Coincidentally, Yesterday morning I took a original 1967 BU Switch apart for mere dissection curiosity. The wires were cut and spliced long ago by a prior owner. i had it lying around for many years and wanted to practice on it in preparation for a 1963 Neutral Safety/BU Lamp Switch I may try to fix in the future.

As far as the wires on this one I have here, notice that the red tracer is on one side of the co-joined wires and the green tracer is on the other side. I'm not sure if all originals were that way.

It was pretty simple to open up to investigate. 3 tabs were simply bent back. This one was working fine. I cleaned it and after assembly tested fine.

As usual, many photos below for reference.

Rich, as far and the tracers being on opposites sides. That is what I found and you can see in the picture I have in my post #7 above.

Rich I just replaced the wires on my 63 switch without bu lights. I bought the wires from Eagle Wire Products. I think they are a dealer for American Autowire.

Bob p/s there was a nos switch w b/u lights for sale on ebay $375.00

Bob, were you able to get the black wires with the pink and green stripe? When I Google Eagle Wire Products the first choice is American Autowire. I think American Autowire is the dealer and Eagle is the mfg. Which did you buy from?

                        Thanks,

Don My switch is without backup lights so it only has 2 wires, yellow and black. Also a 63/64 switch is different than a 66 switch. American Autowire is the mfg. and Eagle is a dealer for them.
