Is there a source for the plastic tip used on the big block dipsticks? I have the original dipstick from my 68 L 36 (early April build) but the white tip is missing. Rich

No tip on my '70 454 dipstick, either.

Is it possible some didn't have one? If not, what happens to them? Are they prone to falling out?

You may be right. I have a few of this style dipstick with various color plastic tips and have not been able to remove any of the tips. They're all pretty tight.
