Re: 55 shocks with mid 54 dates????
I have rebuilt a couple of sets of 55 shocks and was able to get pictures of an original 1955 with the original shocks. All dated 1954 .The rock guards were not use in 1955 on other production models .- Top

Re: 55 shocks with mid 54 dates????
How far into the run can you verify the 54 dating? Shocks you have made for 55 corvettes have 55 dates on them.Last edited by John S.; June 11, 2017, 10:46 AM.- Top

#29 has a well documented shock date of 3 A 54, you now have #480, Steve Newsome or Troy Pyle might be able to give you the date of the shocks on #594 which is an excellent example of a survivor car.- Top

Re: 55 shocks
Stone shields disappeared somewhere between 595 and 700.
It is not unusual for a 55 to have left over 54 parts. It seems Chevy thought that they would sell a ton of 54 Corvettes and built parts for many more than sold. So those parts were used to make 55's. Its possible you will never see a 55 dated part, other than engine components, until maybe very late in the run.
For example I've never seen an AE rear end on a 55. Always MW. But in Joe Tripoli's chassis restoration book a very faint photo of an AE rear is shown. So maybe they did exist very late in the run. If anyone has a photo of one please post it.
Also as far as I have seen all side curtains and tops have June 54 date codes at the latest. I'm open minded and willing to believe some may have been dated later but please show me.- Top
