    '77 tilt/tele steering column

I replaced a broken turn signal handle on my '77 and ended up with an extra clip (I took it apart a few months ago and knew better than to wait this long). I even took pictures.....but obviously not enough. I'm hoping someone will recognize it and know where it belongs.

Don that's the clip that goes on the end of shaft, after you tighten the nut, its a safety measure if the nut backs off.

Ed, thanks for your help. Now I can wrap this repair up and look for another one.

Turns out I found a new repair before I even got it "wrapped up". While repairing the turn signal handle on the '77 I realized it is also activates the headlight dimmer switch, which led me to the jumper wire in the picture. The connector no doubt should have the flasher? plugged into it. The flasher appears to be damaged as I think it was crushed by the dash/speaker. I need to know what the flasher? is for, maybe anti-theft? I believe I located the emergency flasher under the dash on the passenger side. The damaged flasher is on the driver side of the dash. Thanks for any help.
