    gas stains

    Hey Guys,
Not about a vette but what they can do to a concrete floor; I have an epoxy floor in my garage and have some gas spots from racing fuel on the floor. Trying to get them out with no success. have tried several products concrete cleaner, lacquer thinner, denatured alcohol. the floor has several coats of some kind of clear on it. My floor guy said to use lacquer thinner or denatured alcohol but these did not work. Didn't know if anyone had any experience with this. my 3 vettes like a clean home!! appreciate some advice.

Did you try something like Comet cleanser? Or try wet sanding with very fine sandpaper. Did you ty contacting the epoxy maker?

Terry, thanks for your input. I have not tried comet or wet sanding but I certainly will. I do not know who the manufacturer is. I contacted the installer who has done this for many years but his suggestions did not work. I will let you know if what you recommended worked. Thanks again. They must put some kind of a dye in racing fuel

Years ago a spills expert gave me this tip for oil stains on bare concrete. Take some plain cheap kitty litter and dump a little the stain. Then grind it in with the ball of your foot and sweep it up. A good portion of the stain will be gone. Not sure if it will work in your case since your floor is epoxy and you may be dealing with dye but it's maybe worth a try.

Try a little brake cleaner. That stuff takes off just about anything. Make sure you work fast it don't stay long. Follow up with Lysol yellow cleaner.

That's what I use on my epoxy floor for exhaust stains that have set in awhile. Worth a try on gas dye stains.

Gene, gave it a try but no cigar. dye in the racing fuel apparently very difficult.

Terry tried comet and wet sanding but no results? I believe the epoxy is coated with urethane. I guess I need to find out what kind of thinner removes it? maybe that will work? Thanks for your help.

                  Hi Bruce,

I have an epoxy floor too. I got some spray paint overspray on it. The spray paint can said use Mineral spirits or Xylol (Xylene) for cleanup. I tried the Xylene, it worked like a charm! Maybe try that.
