    Kerbeck Chevrolet - 2017 Z51

Guys: Need some advice. I'm thinking about buying another Vette. I'd like a new or newer Z51 with a manual. I'm in Houston, however, the prices at Kerbeck Chevrolet in New Jersey are pretty unbelievable (in a good way that is). Two questions. Should I wait for the 2018 mid-engine or grab a C7? Is Kerbeck a good dealership to do business with? It would be cool to fly in with Julie and buy the Vette and drive back here to Houston? Any counsel would be appreciated. Best, Ned

Ned, as you know, the rumors are rampant about the 2019 C8 being a mid-engine car, and we know the plant is shutting down tours and the engine build experience for 18 months to do extensive work on the assembly line. Not much else is known with any certainty, so waiting for it is a bit of a crap shoot. As for an existing model and Kerbeck, I have had some friends buy from them and have them shipped to them around here, and they were very pleased with the service and sales support Kerbeck provided, driving one home would be the easy way to go. Price is key, if you can't get a Houston dealer to meet Kerbeck's price, and I would show them exactly what that is, then I would go with Kerbeck. One option would also be to buy from Kerbeck, but get NCM delivery option in Bowling Green. They are still doing that at the museum, and it is closer to you than Jousey.

          Michael,

I bought a 2016 Z51 last year. Did the build experience and museum delivery. Drove it home to Rochester, NY. Unbelievable experience. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Watching your car being built from the time the body comes from the paint shop to the assembly line and then watch it being driven out the door is just incredible. Our tour guide was great and the photo album, well I could look at it every day and still love it.

I agree fully Dan, being as intimately involved as you can with your new car is a blast. It is unfortunate that the plant will be closed to tours for 18 months, that takes some away from the experience.

I went to Wixom and built the engine on my '12 ZR1, went to BG to see it built, was the first to start it and drive it off the line, and took museum delivery the next day and drove the 1300 miles back to New Mexico. The pictures and memories from all those experiences are priceless and well worth the extra costs, IMO. My wife loved it too, since I told her I was so connected with this car, I could never sell it, she likes that, I buy and sell cars too quickly for her.......... They may bury me in this car.

FYI, no more factory tours for many months, so I would not count on that as part of the experience.

If it were me, I'd contact Tom Hendricks at Bud's Chevrolet in St. Marys, OH before I'd call Kerbeck.

I would contact Mike Furman @ Criswell Chevrolet in Gaithersburg, MD - he is an NCRS member and has been selling Vettes for about 40 years

                  Edmund,
I believe you'll find that the advertised Kerbeck prices are for their in-stock inventory only. I'm sure that you can still order through them, but be prepared to pay more than the amount which you saw advertised. I'm a fan of Bud's in Ohio also, though I've not purchased from them.
