265 block mate to 54 powerglide

I am considering a day when my '54 engine will no longer be fit to power my '54 Corvette. I think the easiest fix would be to swap in an early 265 engine. Note, I said easiest. So here's my question... Is the '54 powerglide a direct bolt on to an early 265 or 283 block?

    Hi Don..

A powerglide will bolt to a German Shepherd or your lawn mower with no problems.

It was use for just about everything Chevrolet had in its day..6 cly and the small blocks, 265 283 327 350 .. a buddy of mine races one with a 383 stroker. Just use the correct fly wheel if you are changing engines.. I was told you had to change it from 6cylinder 6v system to 12v as .. they sale these at Auto zone or NAPA.or any auto parts place.

Thanks, Al. I asked because I thought the bell housing bolt pattern was different on some newer V-8 small blocks, and the older powerglides like the one on my '54 Corvette with 235 L6 (I see you have one.) would not fit the newer bolt pattern. I'm not at all sure about this, and if true I don't know when the change in bolt pattern started.
