Thoughts / comments about current "NOS" 427 Oil Pans for sale on the web ?

My current project 67 has an oil pan that looks as though it drove through a 7 day BAJA race (well you get the picture) I was just looking around the web & am now seeing supposed NOS GM oil pans for sale. I must honestly say ( & not for being cheap) that the "original" 427 oil pans I see on ebay etc are either stupid rare & expensive or wrong or look even worse than the original I currently have. We all obviously know that this is an important part & buying a USED original poses many potential risks with it's proper sealing, baffles, and the obvious dents & gouges.

Sooo, what are your thoughts regarding these new NOS pans now being sold ? I want to do my project right,& receive max judging points down the road, but I don't need a $500.00 banged up "original" leaker either !!

    Appreciate your thoughts members-----------

A n oil pan for your application is still available from GM under GM #14091356. This pan is virtually identical to the original oil pan used for your application. The most significant difference is that this pan has no corner rail reinforcements. However, you can purchase these from most of the Corvette parts vendors. No need to spot weld them to the pan; the oil pan bolts will retain them and no one will know the difference. You can buy this pan for less than 200 bucks and you'll have a brand new GM pan..

I've acquired several of the GM 427 pans (not really NOS as they are "new stock"), over the last few years and are fine. I got them from a vendor and they both came with corner reinforcements. I used a dab of silicone under them when I installed the pan to keep them in place for later if removed.

My 396 oil pan looked like yours, including several pounds of BONDO or so it looked like. I bought a new pan, cut the reinforcements from the old pan and bingo ----- a near perfect pan that looks great. very easy job all-in-all

Mine was the typical "smashed by speed bumps" pan. The one I ordered came with the reinforcements, a windage tray and was exactly like my original except no hole for the center timing cover bolt. If you still have the original 65-66 timing cover, you'll need to add the hole yourself.
