Re: Scan tool for C4
Decent P-code readers for modern cars are under $20. Search for ELM 327 on the weeb.
Not sure if buying a reader that can do both older (pre-OBD II) cars and modern stuff is worthwhile.- Top

Re: Scan tool for C4
I had an earlier Innova 3140 OBD2/OBD1 scan tool with OBD2 live data that I liked. In 2015 I purchased an Innova 3160 Scan tool because I had a need to be able to pull codes for ABS. It will also scan SRS in 1996 and newer vehicles. Although the 3160 does not say it will scan anything older than 1996 vehicles, the information from Innova suggests that it will scan GM and some other older vehicles with OBD1 systems. I know the 3140 will do both and it is still available for $168.68 through Amazon.com.

Re: Scan tool for C4
Frank,
Gordon Killebrew sells a Fault Code Diagnostic Grounding Plug Set that allows straightforward access to failure codes on C-4 Corvette. The plug set for 82-93 and Manual is $45. (FYI the 94-96 Plug set and Manual is also $45). Pretty easy to use and inexpensive, plus small so you can have in car at all times.

Re: Scan tool for C4
Search Ebay for a old snap-on mt2500(the brick). They're pretty obsolete now so go for small $$$, just be sure to get the proper keys for your application. About as good as it gets besides the GM tool.- Top

Re: Scan tool for C4
For my '88 Anniversary I have:
cable from http://www.aldlcable.com
WINaldl software from: http://winaldl.joby.se/
It takes some delving to find the correct chip set to set in the software. I use a Windows 10 laptop.- Top

Re: Scan tool for C4
the Snap on brick scanner mt2500 is a obsolete one it will work great with your 93 and newer C4's but not much newer then the late 90's. for GM cars and trucks you need Key #9 . with out plugging it in I have no idea how you check it- Top
