Side pipe for 1978 anniversary

Hello,

our friend has a nice anniversary 78 Vette. He thinks about side pipes conversion from standard exhaust system. All vintage cars need for year technical inspection a confirmation for all changes. Is it possible to get any confirmation document that side pipes could be used in 1978 on Vette.
We know that as an option side pipes could be just on 1969 Vette.

Thanks very much for any recommendation where to get this document.

Side pipes were not offered by the factory on 1978 Corvettes.

Since it wasn't an option I doubt you will get any type of documents from the factory, unless they were listed in the Chevy HP parts section.

I personally would not use them, I have had both stock and aftermarket and never cared all that much for blowing out my ears or burning my legs but enough people like them. Also on a personal note, going to Carlisle every year just about every C2 has factory sidepipes and knock wheels so much so I really have come to dislike both. Again just my opinion I am sure most will disagree.

In addition, if you need a technical inspection then realize that side exhaust will require removal of the catalytic converter. I doubt that any governmental agency would approve of that.
