McKinnon Industries starter info

Our 70-72 JG indicates a McKinnon starter was a possibility, along with Delco-Remy. Does anyone have a picture of the stamping on one of these? I'm only familiar with Delco starters. Always looking to learn.

Are you referring to the GM "McKinnon" plant in Canada?

I remember that one turned up on a car that John Pirkle Jr. judged about 10 years ago at a national. He might have pics. Caused quite a stir.

I recall many years ago seeing such an animal. I believe it was the same one that Mike W mentioned; although I saw it at a different meet than the John P reference. Just once in over 30 years of NCRS makes it a pretty unique example. It might even be the much-saught-after "one of one".

And yes Duke, I believe it is of Canadian origin.
