The Modern C2-Hands free Calling and navigation

Getting my 67 ready for the Road Tour to San Antonio and I found a way of modernizing without modifying the dash.

Here's the new look of the dash:

There's three new components here, a bluetooth FM transmitter, a dual socket lighter adapter, and a Garmin GPS.

    Here's the FM transmitter:

    the original radio

This little jewel pairs up with any Bluetooth cellphone or smartphone, and transmits the phone call to any set station on your original radio. It also charges your phone, and accepts mp3 files from a zip drive or smartphone and plays them on your original radio set to a blank station. If you get a phone call it interrupts the music to answer the phone with its integral mike. I've got a zip drive of the Eagles and Young Rascals greatest hits and now I can tool along listening to "Hotel California" or "Groovin".

The mount for the transmitter is a dual lighter socket:

To hold it in place I used velcro tape around the steering column. It has a high amp usb socket on the side to power the GPS. I also added a dual USB charger socket for other cell phones and instruments. If I want to light a cigar on the road, I can remove the charge socket and use my original cigar lighter which is in the glove compartment.

Here is my GPS which is very useful.

On a freeway it actually shows a picture of the off ramp signs and which lane you should be in. It mounts to a suction cup to the inside of the windshield. No holes or screws.

Well, I think I'm ready for the drive from Sonora, CA to San Antonio, TX.

    Pretty cool Jerry. Drive safe.

Just a note. Maybe you've already done this.....

I'd ensure your Lighter Socket wiring is adequate for these additional loads. In fact, you may want to reconfigure the lighter socket with a different socket made just for that type of accessory plug and bring a separate fused source wire directly from the Fuse Panel to the socket.

You could use the ACC feed fuse feed(using a clip on terminal made to attach to fuse clips) or the full time feed "Power Windows", through a fuse(maybe 10 or 15 Amp, not sure what your total load is with those accessories), then to the special socket.

When you get to Texas you could undo that stuff pretty quickly if you wanted and reconfigure it with the stock lighter pieces and clip the wiring back on it.

Looks great Jerry, but keep that belt handy in case that hardtop breaks loose again.........

PS, where's the Sirius Radio setup?

Jerry your set up looks great. Just what a civil engineer would do.
          Have a safe trip.
