I owned a 1970 Pontiac with the 455 cu in motor. As I remember, Pontiac issued a campaign for owners to have the nylon toothed gear replaced under warranty. Not so with Chevy, I assume?

Usually, if a manufacturer conducts a recall campaign to replace a certain part, they replace that part in PRODUCTION simultaneously or, even, before the campaign is initiated. Chevrolet used the nylon sprockets on Corvette small blocks in PRODUCTION through 1991. So, apparently, they thought they were OK. Also, as I previously mentioned, nylon cam sprockets were used on all passenger car big blocks through 1975 (1974 for Corvettes), including L-88 and ZL-1.
