    '67 Repro Door Panels

Does anyone have a recommendation for 67 door panels? 3 years ago when I started my restoration I bought a set of Al Knock panels knowing I needed to replace my originals. Now that I am installing them I find that the fit is not good. The formed holes for window cranks relative to lock knob and door opening slot are off. I am using all the adjustment play in those (and making some more) but alignment still isn't very good. I can probably make it work but.... Al Knock stuff used to be pretty good. Also, shame on me for ordering that far in advance- I never learn.

If anyone has bought '67 panels recently that are very good pls let me know.

    Thanks, Jim

Unfortunately all repos are just that! Non originals. Presently there is only two companies making Corvette interiors and that is Al Knock and Corvette America.

On my '67 I tried both Corvette America and Al Knoch door panels. Neither was a perfect fit around the vent window, so I kept the best one and sent the other one back. Can't remember which one I sent back.

I bought C/A panels for my 65 coupe and the fit was exactly the same as the originals. I wouldn't hesitate buying them again, especially after hearing all the complaints about the A/K panels.

I bought a set of Corvette America door panels (Deluxe with Trim) for my '67 convertible back in July of 2013. It was not long after CA re-tooled and I found the fit perfect.

I bought Corvette America panels for my 67 convertible and I was very impressed in the fit and quality. I would buy them again in a heartbeat from C/A.

Jim, there was a post by Rich Mozzetta about doing some mods with picture's to make the repro door panels fit somewhat better, It may be worth sending him a Pm, he has done some great stuff here on the TDB.

I'm not sure I'd call either of the reproductions a perfect fit. I must have more expectations of what a good fit is. Only an original fits the way I want it. Yes one can make a repop fit but it is a lot of extra work. I would agree the CA is a better piece to start with vs the AK.

I'm right on board with Gene, I tried from both CA & AK but wasn't happy with either. I was fortunate to find two NOS panels
                  And they fit perfectly.

The AK door panels are in- after a LOT of modification and everything looks good (but still obviously a repro). Thanks to all for your responses and advice. Jim

                      Jim,
Good to hear you got results you can live with. I know the expectations of a reproduction do not meet the requirement of flight judging without deductions. But a driver has lesser requirements and will function as a door panel.
