    C4 Boot removal

Once again twisting to the left and right and acquiring spark plug tools the boots do not come off . There are areas that are very hard to reach so was no release agent installed at the factory? All suggestions are welcome?

Hope I don't have this trouble with the spark plug boots on my 1996 LT4. The boots have been on for 21 years now.

Frank, All the boots stuck? It is hard to get release agent into the seat of the boot on the end of a plug. In other situations, I have filled the syringe that has the reverse curved tip with release agents to get into hard to access areas. Not sure if that will help here.

FWIW, Passenger side seems to be where the fun is. The one on the passenger side closest to fire wall is a bitch as there is very little hand space. I remove the transmission dip stick and force my hand to grab it. The boot on the passenger side front of engine, I take the wheel shrouds of and remove the bracket holding the AC compressor. Then it is pretty easy to get all up in there. Hope that helps.

No, I fill with Kroil, draw slight negative on syringe, position and squirt.

Must have been the bean counters! They saved a dollar per vehicle times the amount of production for that year. Mean while with the correct tool i still have problems!

Frank, there is no easy fix, What I do is twist the boot and rotate the boot one direction till it breaks free from the spark plug, sometimes you'll feel it spring back, but you want to try and get that little extra rotation, once it rotates , just rotate and pull at the same time.
