I was lucky if I could get a drip or two out of the pump jets .Once the pump plunger got pass the slot in the bowl it did not want to go down any farther pushing down on the top of the plunger by hand with the linkage disconnected. The pump discharge needle should move up to let the fuel by. I also think I should be able to remove it, with the pump jets removed am I correct ? I has tried putting 90 lb to it through the little hole in the accelerator pump bowl. This is the first it been used since it was rebuilt by Mr. Kunz Thank You Fred

Re: WCFB accelerator pump
Fred, I just had a stubborn accelerator pump needle on a WCFB. This was really stubborn due to corrosion. Remove the top cover then remove the nozzle block.
This is what it took to get that little bugger free..........
1:
Penetrant(CRC Powerlube) injected at needle, let sit for a while, then tapping with a brass hammer upside down......Nope
2:
CRC Freeze-Off applied for 15 seconds at the needle, more tapping......Nope
3:
A. Remove check ball cover and check ball in pump cylinder. (to be done regardless in a rebuild)
B. Plug accel pump cylinder with big rubber plug and hold down tightly.
C. Cover needle with small rag.
D. Use rubber tipped air gun at 125 psi into feed hole in base.
E. After about 3 seconds of 125 psi air, needle popped up and the small rag shot 3 feet in the air.
F. Look everywhere on shop floor for needle.....Nope
Rich
PS New needle comes in kit so make sure you use a bigger rag than I did to save your needle.- Top
