1955 'V' on VIN tag

Something I have wondered about for a while.

The letter 'V' on the 1955 VIN tags. Was is an actual letter stamp, or was it two separate strikes with a flat tip screwdriver or chisel, etc?

Would a 1955 Passenger car VIN tags answer your question ?
I have many images of 1955-57 passenger car VIN tags. The V8 cars VIN numbers started with a "V" and 6 cylinder car VINs stated with a "C".
They all appear to be struck with "V"s or "C"s.

It appears tp be separate strikes on mine, pictures don't seem to work this morning I will email you a good picture
