    1971 Window Crank Position

What position are the window cranks supposed to be either when the windows are up or down. 1971 Roadster.

Also with the soft top is there any mounting hardware holding the top to the bottom rear bow. When I took mine apart it appears only the weatherstrip with the pull cord holds the top on. I noticed thought that there are some screw holes on the bottom side of the bow, not sure what they were for??

    Thanks
    Sheldon

The window cranks on my 70 coupe both point forward with the windows rolled up and both point aft with the windows rolled down.

    Pic with window rolled down.

      Sheldon,
There is no "factory correct" way as to which direction they face. Mike's direction is typical. You want them where they don't interfere with your knee when they're are in the up or down posiiton.

        Re: 1971 Window Crank Position

I am of the opinion that the crank knobs should be facing toward the front of the car. This would mean that the drivers side would be in the 3:00 position and the passengers at the 9:00. This is what I have observed on cars with very low miles. This is not to say that they could not be in other positions, but it would make sense that it is facing away from both the driver and passenger's knees. Even an original car from putting the windows up and down, the crank would eventually push its way up from overall use.

Thanks for all the info, I will install that way. Makes sense.
