C2 wiring harness straps

My question is in regard to the two hole plastic straps that fasten the wiring harness to the left fender of a 67.

Which hole should I use?

I'm not sure if this is gospel or not, but I use the hole that best fits the harness. The forward harness on a '67 heading to the VR is thick, so IIRC I use the larger ID so the outer hole. As it gets to the core support, with less wires, I use the smaller OD, the inner hole.

If the car is K66 TI equipped, I use the larger OD, outer hole, for everything, as both Forward and TI Harnesses have to pass through the ties.
