    Re: Original Thermostat?

My 1955 Corvette Parts Catalog (July 1955) shows a different part number as follows:

1.246 THERMOSTAT, Radiator and Hot Water Heater
    '53-55 151 (for alcohol antifreeze)..............3123993*

The degree symbol is shown after "151" but it is not on my keyboard.

My 1957 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (March 1957) lists the following:

    ALL, CORV..........................151................. ....3133595
    ALL, CORV..........................160................. ....3133596
    ALL, CORV..........................170................. ....3133597
    29-55 ALL, CORV. (exc. for 1954-55 PASS)(for
    max. heat)(1st Ser.)............180.....................3133698*
*NOTE: Not used w/7 lb. pressure radiator cap. (Pass. after 1953)

The AMA specs for 1953 Corvette indicates a 151 degree opening thermostat.

        Re: Orignal Thremostat?

Gary, I do believe the original color was brown. Maybe others can verify that.

What is the part number for a 180 degree Stant Made in USA Thermostat. One that would fit the '57 to 65 fuel injection intakes.

          Thanks, John

Stant #45358. However, as far as where it's made, the only way to know that is to look on the box of the particular thermostat you're buying. Even if I had purchased this exact thermostat and it was made in USA, that does not mean that the one you might purchase would be made in the USA. That's just how it is in today's world of automotive parts.

Upon closer inspection I found a 1969 date on the one pictured.
I have replaced it with a new 180 deg thermostat from Napa.
