Zinc plated although some might have been electro-galavnized. Either finish appears about the same.

If you intend to have yours re-plated, be advised that the plater MUST use procedures to avoid hydrogen embrittlement.

Peter, The plater must bake the part to avoid what Joe called Hydrogen embrittlement. When I get FI parts plated such as split lock washers and little springs I always request the baking. I was told it had to be done within 20 minutes of the part being dipped for plating but I may be wrong on that detail. John
