Carpet on 72 Targa Blue Car.

First, i tried to search for a thread but I could not find anything.

My question is about replacing the carpet on my 72 SB with automatic. The exterior is targa blue, and the interior is blue. (seats are vinyl)

Is the correct carpet color "Royal Blue" (CorvetteAmerica) or bright blue (paragon)

Does anyone know if either of these will *judge without losing points? If not, does anyone have a source for correct carpet?

    (*flight judging)

Your best bet is to ask for blue samples, preferably a couple of colors, from Corvette America, Al Knoch, and MidAmerica. Using these, pick the color that matches yours.

Odds are that none will be 100% correct.

Don, I have a 72 royal blue interior and the carpet color cannot be duplicated by any venders bright blue is what you get. Not even close.

Don, 1972 blue interior is a one-year only shade; therefore, manufacturers find it unproductive to offer. It is very hard to find replacement parts in that color. As Patrick suggested, ask for samples and go with the closest match.

And don't ever get rid of your original carpet. If you do, I'm sure there is someone else with a blue interior car who would like to use it for a match. However if it were me, I'd keep it.

The person who is working on my car claims that my carpet is not original, so (if this is true) there is no point in keeping it. He seems to be knowledgeable about such matters and has restored some NCRS Flight cars. My carpet is not awful, so I guess I will just table the issue for the time being. I plan on pulling the seats out to repair some seat belt issues and replace some bad bolts so I thought it might be a good time to replace that worn carpet.
