Options for preserving original blue GM door jam sticker

    Guys,

I'm getting ready to send my car out for body/paint in the next couple of months and wanted to see what I should ask the shop to do regarding the original blue GM door jam sticker on my tuxedo black '69. Is it feasible to remove/re-glue this sticker or should I instruct them to tape it off and paint around it?

I don't think removing it will work. It would probably come off in layers.

Any vendor recommendations? I've got the same issue.

To have any chance of getting it off with minimal damage, try heating with a heat gun(not too hot) and slowly and carefully working the backside free.

All attempts to remove mine intact have failed.

I had good result carefully masking with fine line tape.

Be sure they also mask it before any work begins for protection. Then when ready to shoot jams, remask for perfection. Well done, it's hard to detect.

Used a razor blade scraper with excellent results. Will be able to reuse original. The replacement labels are Not exactly like the originals. Since I was stripping the body, it did not matter if scratched the paint.
