I was always under the impression that there were approximately 9 or 10 copies of the build order. Obviously, one was crudely glued on top of the gas tank (in most instances.) It was my thought, the last copy was used as the 'tank sticker.'
Today, a friend of mine was continuing the disassembly of a 1969 L88 convertible and found a build order in the interior where the steering column attaches. This is often the case with 69 Corvettes.
Two things were educational about today's discovery, for me. 1) The complete order copy that was found today was the last one and 2) there were 26 torn corners. That is to say, counting the original, there were 27 total orders at the start of production.
