    Corvette Build Orders

I was always under the impression that there were approximately 9 or 10 copies of the build order. Obviously, one was crudely glued on top of the gas tank (in most instances.) It was my thought, the last copy was used as the 'tank sticker.'
Today, a friend of mine was continuing the disassembly of a 1969 L88 convertible and found a build order in the interior where the steering column attaches. This is often the case with 69 Corvettes.
Two things were educational about today's discovery, for me. 1) The complete order copy that was found today was the last one and 2) there were 26 torn corners. That is to say, counting the original, there were 27 total orders at the start of production.
    I'm always happy to learn...

Is there anything that shows the rest of the build order? Looks like a great find...Don

There is but, not being my car, I don't want to show it. I just wanted to show there are a s*#tload of order copies and the last one was not used as the 'tank sticker'...in this case.

Seems like a lot of sheets of paper but I know that by the time GMAD took over plant operations in the probably 72-73 period, the landscape style build sheet or manifest that used the teletype printer printed seven copies and they were numbered!

I have heard and seen order copies in several different places on and in the car. Trailing arm, brake and clutch pedal box, behind the radio, rear storage box, under one of the seats, etc. Plus all still had the whole or remnants of the it on the gas tank.

Mark, I also saw this document and found it very interesting. It explains why the corner of many of the 1969 tank stickers are ripped off. With 27 copies of the build sheet plus window stickers, shippers copies and internal dealer invoices, there were lots of copies of paperwork floating around out there back in the day.

              Tim,
Great observation! So many are missing that corner, and, of course, that's where the ident number is. I've wondered for years why that corner is so often missing.
